Norge tre matcher.
Sparta – Stavanger
PICK: Game Total Over 5.5 @ 1.80 (Expekt) Sparta has not played as well as they did during the start of the season. They are still placed first in the league, although only one point ahead of Valerenga. This game is important for both teams; Stavanger is only 6 points away from Sparta with one less game played. If Stavanger wins this, they are in a good position to be a top contender for the first spot. Sparta’s defense has been their main problem lately, and recently, they’ve had troubles scoring, although their results does not show that, but with the chances they’ve gotten during those games there could’ve been a lot of more goals. This have to come to an end soon though, as many people say that Sparta’s losses has been unlucky, although having a lack of defensive play. Both of these teams have had very tough schedules after the break, just look at Sparta’s last four matches. 05/12-10 - Lorenskog vs. Sparta 3:4 02/12-10 - Sparta vs. Lillehammer 2:5 30/11-10 - Vaalerenga vs. Sparta 3:4 (SO) 28/11-10 - Stjernen vs. Sparta 1:2 There’s not much to say about the games, no big upsets at all. But you can clearly see that Sparta’s defense has been very questionable comparing to their other games during the start of the season. Overall though, I believe that Sparta are quite satisfied winning the Derby game against Stjernen, and finally defeating Valerenga, even though it was after shootouts. Stavanger’s last four matches, has been as challenging as Sparta’s, 05/12-10 Stavanger vs. Rosenborg 6:1 02/12-10 Stavanger vs. Lorenskog 5:2 28/11-10 Lillehammer vs. Stavanger 4:3 (OT) 25/11-10 Stavanger vs. Stjernen 4:2 Again, there’s not much to say about the results. But the fact that Stavanger has played very well after the break. Their results at home are as good as before, and they remain undefeated at home in regulation time. A proof of their good play right now is the result against Lillehammer away. Lillehammer and Stavanger has been the best teams after the break, and it’s only fair that the game ended in a draw. These teams have already faced each other two times this season, once at Sparta’s home ice where Sparta won 4-0. This was during the times where Sparta was unstoppable. Second faceoff, was a month ago at Stavanger. The game started off quick and Sparta had a lead for a long time but Stavanger managed to turn it around, although loosing after shootouts. Sparta was missing a few key players, defensemen, before this game as well, and the result has to be considered good for both parts. Both of these teams have great offensive skills, as Sparta has the most goals scored in the league, 108 goals scored after 25 games played. Stavanger isn’t far behind as they have 105 goals scored, with 24 games played. Stavanger’s road games usually tend to go over, as 8 of their 11 road games have gone over this season. The games that has not gone over has been against Manglerud (4-0 win) in their first road game of the season, Sparta (0-4 Loss) at the time where Sparta was playing their best hockey, Valerenga (1-4 Loss), Not much to add here, Valerenga has the best defense in the league, and are able to shut down all teams. Sparta’s last three games have gone over, against top teams, Valerenga, Lillehammer, Lorenskog. At home the line has gone over in 8 of their 11 home games; the games that have gone under have been against Frisk/Asker (4-1 Win) in their first home game of the season, Stavanger (4-0 Win), already explained, Valerenga (2-3 loss), also explained, as Valerenga has the ability to somehow always shutdown the offensive teams. Sparta’s recent results have been a bit misleading as they could’ve scored a lot more goals. This game should allow them to do so as both teams rely on their offensive skills, Stavanger won’t be scoreless again as they are in a good position to take over the second spot and be a threat to Sparta. At the same time Sparta knows they will have to step it up against Stavanger, who has been as good as Lillehammer, who Sparta lost against. It will be an interesting game, with many scoring opportunities I’m sure and surprisingly the line is set at 5.5. Which is most likely based on the H2H results between the teams, but the current forms these teams are in, and the circumstances for this game, Over should be a good pick. |

Frisk/Asker – Lillehammer IK
PICK: Lillehammer to win @ 1.70 (Betway) Lillehammer is in a great form at the moment, probably the best team in the league right now. Their start after the break has been really good, before the break though Lillehammer had troubles with their results. In their last seven games before the break, they lost six of them. Now they have won five of their 6 games after the break, and the last three games have to be considered as their best achievement this season. These are Lillehammer’s last three games, 05/12-10 Lillehammer vs. Vaalerenga 6:3 02/12-10 Sparta vs. Lillehammer 2:5 28/11-10Lillehammer vs. Stavanger 4:3 (OT) The results are very impressive by the team, especially defeating Sparta on the road. Something to add in that game is Lillehammer’s second and third period. Sparta had great pressure in the offensive zone and despite being outshot by Sparta, Lillehammer managed to keep Sparta from scoring. The main reason for that was Lillehammer’s goaltender, Jonathan Boutin. Boutin kept Lillehammer in the game, and without him the numbers would definitely been different. Frisk/Asker’s recent results look like this, 07/12-10 Vaalerenga vs. Frisk/Asker 6:1 05/12-10 Stjernen vs. Frisk/Asker 6:2 02/12-10 Frisk/Asker vs. Manglerud/Star 3:2 28/11-10 Storhamar vs. Frisk/Asker 7:0 Not much to say about the results, other than the fact that they are pathetic on the road. Their home games seem to have improved after the break, as they actually defeated Sparta (6-4) and took a relatively non-embarrassing loss against Valerenga (2-5) and defeating Manglerud (3-2). I would not rate the win against Sparta to high though, as they have been a different kind of team lately. Overall though, Frisk/Asker looks to be the same team as they have been all season. These teams have already faced each other two times this season; first game was on the road for Lillehammer as they won 7-4. Second game they lost at home 3:4 after shootouts. Not much to add in these games, other than the fact that Lillehammer has had rollercoaster results this season. Frisk/Asker’s goal difference after the break is 18:39, with 8 games played. If you take away the game where they managed to score 6 goals, you get 12:35, 7 games played. Lillehammer’s goal difference after the break is 31:14, with 8 games played. Although 7 of these matches are home games, the statistics are amazing compared to before the break. Frisk/Asker is the team that has allowed most goals in the league, and Lillehammer has been the best offensive team lately. The game is quite important for the team as they have to start winning to catch up with the other teams, the wins against Valerenga/Sparta must’ve boosted their confidence in the team. I don’t see Lillehammer loosing this one, their defense has been very solid lately with Boutin, and they have been really effective in the offensive zone. Frisk/Asker’s “good” home results won’t mean much as Norway’s best team right now will visit. 1.70 for Lillehammer win is too high, as I expected it to be around 1.50-1.55, 1.60 at tops. |

Storhamar – Stjernen
PICK: Storhamar First Period @ 1.70 (Expekt) Storhamar will host Stjernen in this game. Storhamar has played really well after the break, and they seem to have improved their away-play which has been their weakness this season. As some of their results have been really impressive, picking out a few here. 25/11-10 Vaalerenga vs. Storhamar 1:2 23/11-10 Storhamar vs. Sparta 2:3 (SO) 20/11-10 Stavanger vs. Storhamar 5:3 18/11-10 Lorenskog vs. Storhamar 0:2 Although losing against Stavanger, scoring 3 goals against them is good, especially on the road. Overall their results are very good, and the wins on the road against Lorenskog and Valerenga are very impressive. Stjernen has had a tough schedule lately, facing a lot of good teams, 02/12-10 Vaalerenga vs. Stjernen 3:1 28/11-10 Stjernen vs. Sparta 1:2 25/11-10 Stavanger vs. Stjernen 4:2 23/11-10 Stjernen vs. Lorenskog 1:4 21/11-10 Lillehammer vs. Stjernen 2:1 Overall, not that bad results, although losing them all they still managed to keep the numbers down. You got to give them some cred as playing five straight games against the better teams in the league is not easy. Stjernen’s weakness, to say the least, has been their road games. They have only managed to win 2 out of their 12 road games, with a goal difference of 17:51. Now they will face one of the best home teams in the league. Storhamar only has 2 losses out of their 11 home games. Both losses are against Sparta (one after shootouts). If you do not count those games they have a goal difference of 43:15. These teams have already faced each other two times this season, trading wins, both games ended 4-1 and both games were won at home. H2H-Statistics are 14-2-4 in favor for Storhamar. With Stjernen’s tough schedule lately and Storhamar’s great play I expect the home team to get an early lead and keep it. The period play should be good here. |
