Ny dag, ny rek

Citat:
I would think that there may be one or two players who might not feature against Swindon as they decide to leave the club. So I think with the continued uncertainty across the club I only see us being on the end of a hiding. I can't see many of our players being up for a game on New Year's Day, when in all honesty the FA will probably relegate us in a few weeks time once we come out of administration.
Inför match mot Walsall 4/1-13 (Portsmouth förlust 2-0)

Citat:
If you can get evens on a Walsall win I'd snap that up tbh. We were ok for about an hour up at Swindon only to fall behind to five quickly taken goals. But it's the poor defending which is costing us at the minute. We're not just losing to top teams, we're losing to bottom ten sides. It really is sucking what little confidence we had out of the club. Ricardo Rocha, Brian Howard, and Gabor Gyepes missed the loss to Swindon, and at least one of them is rated at having any chance of returning. We don't need injuries really as our squad's paper thin as it is. We only had four subs on Tuesday, with one a goalkeeper, and another academy prospect making up the bench.

I suppose we will be boosted by the return of striker Paul Benson... And David Connoly signed Monday so that will give us an option. Although he's not played since March.

It may be an idea to look at either goals, or backing the draw at HT, Walsall win at FT. We seem to play well for the opening half and then it all goes wrong. I suppose that could be a combination of fitness (a lot of our players had zero Pre season, and are carrying niggling injuries), poor management (Guy Whittingham and Andy Awford are legends at Pompey, but neither have really managed full time before), and lack of options from the bench or versatility within the squad as a whole.
Inför kommande matchen mot Notts 12/1-13

Citat:
I'd advise anyone to back our opponents in the short term before bookies just pull our games, or wise up to our situation and price us up appropriately.

Pompey have today taken the unprecedented move of informing four of our first team players that they will not be having their monthly contracts renewed when they end on the 15th January. More cost cutting, as it turns out we are back in court on the same day, but the case could be adjourned again. Basically we're back in court to inform the court whether the PST and Portpin have come to an agreement over the valuation of Fratton Park. I don't really understand the way it works, but the likelihood is that there will be another adjournment.

So Mustapha Dumbuya, Jon Harley, Brian Howard, and Lee Williamson (the four biggest earners at the club) have been given seven days notice that their contracts are to be terminated. Whether any play on Saturday I don't know, but I can't see this news going down well.

That pretty much decimates our squad, and I'd expect us to be in the market for loan signings (we already have two loanees already, so that will be limited to another two I believe, that can play in a game), free transfers, and academy players that may be promoted to fill a void. Dumbuya and Howard have been pretty poor already this season, but they're the best choice we had. Now we'll be left with a League Two squad IMO.

On top of that in February we will be leaving our training base just outside of Portsmouth and training at Fratton Park, so god knows what state that'll leave the pitch in. More cost cutting exercises.

So get on County here as I can't see the price holding.
